1. Information We Collect
SkyScript collects the following information:
- Account information: email address, name, and password (hashed)
- Aircraft data: tail number, callsign, and aircraft type you enter
- Transcription data: raw speech-to-text output, AI-corrected text, and any manual corrections you make
- Session metadata: start/end times, frequency, airport ICAO code
- Location data: approximate location (when you grant permission) to identify nearby airports
2. Microphone Access
SkyScript requires microphone access to transcribe ATC communications in real time. Audio is processed using your device's built-in speech recognition engine and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted to our servers. Only the resulting text transcription is saved.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the transcription service
- To train the self-learning AI correction engine on your corrections (private to your account)
- To personalize the experience (callsign highlighting, airport-specific corrections)
- To generate session history and debrief summaries
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on encrypted servers. Transcription data is associated with your account and is not shared with other users. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information.
5. Self-Learning Correction Data
When you manually correct a transcription, or when the AI makes a high-confidence correction, these correction pairs are stored in your account to improve future accuracy. This data is private to your account and is never shared or used to train models for other users.
6. Third-Party Services
SkyScript uses third-party AI services to improve transcription accuracy. When text is sent for AI correction, it is processed in accordance with the respective service provider's privacy policies. No audio is ever sent to third parties.
7. Local Storage
SkyScript stores preferences (home airport, settings) in your browser's local storage. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
8. Data Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings page. Upon deletion, the following data is permanently removed:
- All transcription sessions and transcriptions
- All aircraft profiles
- All learned correction pairs
- Your user account and credentials
This action is irreversible. Local storage data must be cleared separately from your browser.
9. Children's Privacy
SkyScript is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the App.
